stalker update

I’ve just had yet another police officer here at the house. He collected the originals of the letters that Mr. X has mailed to me over the course of the summer and showed me a photo of my stalker. This is the first time I’ve known what he looks like.

I was originally hearing from Mr. X about once every 10 to 14 days. During the month of August, this escalated to once weekly, plus one day that I received two letters from him — one via postal mail, the other via FedEx — within the space of several hours.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Mr. X.

Every time I receive a new message or letter — or have to handle previous letters from Mr. X — I start to shake, inside and out. It takes several hours — sometimes longer — to feel more calm again, though I can’t say I’ve felt safe since this whole thing began.

Even when/if Mr. X is arrested, even if he goes back to jail, even if he stays on his medications for the rest of his life and never bothers anyone ever again, I don’t know that I’ll feel completely secure.

I’ve had trouble with stalkers and overzealous readers in the past. One particular and violent ex-boyfriend stalked me for several years — even told me he wanted to kill me — stopping only when I moved thousands of miles away. Each of these experiences left me rattled, upset, afraid. Save for Mr. X, each of those experiences is now behind me. But I don’t know that you get past that initial jolt of apprehension and intimidation. Even 20 years later, I still have nightmares about that ex-boyfriend coming back to attack me.

As stupid as I feel admitting this, he (and the others who have followed) has been a big reason I’ve been afraid — actually afraid — of going after bigger stories and proposing bigger projects in my work. I’ve been afraid of being more visible. Being easier to find. Being an easier target. There have been days that I’ve been too afraid to leave the house, or to introduce myself to strangers in a group. I’ve been nervous about giving my name or any contact information in public settings, because I just never know who might be listening.

(Plus, try getting any real work done when you’re so unnerved that your hands are shaking.)

The terror — I’m sorry, I don’t know a better word to use here — of being a stalking victim goes far beyond the letters, phone calls and other unwanted attention. The effects can be felt for years after the stalker ceases his/her campaign of intimidation, and each new instance just dredges up and reinforces the fear and anxiety that came before.

I’m hopeful that Mr. X will be picked up soon, and that I never hear from him again. In the meantime, the police will be giving me a copy of his photo to share with friends and neighbors. I also met a lady over the weekend who offered to have her husband teach me some self-defense moves. I thank God/dess every day that there are people nearby who care about me, and that we can help to keep each other safe.

  1. Hi Jennifer:

Interesting article on how fear in America sustains the NRA’s egregious agenda. Fascinating comment: “… most bullet wounds don’t kill people.” A bizarre rationalization that just maiming is not so bad?

Now that your stalker has been ID’d (you have a sure target now) and authorities ‘surely’ on the case, what of the gun?

Suggest you have been moved to the next level and are now a trained seal for the NRA and its recently re-framed Second Amendment. (They don’t have to use part of the single sentence Amendment as a slogan anymore, duh!)

Truly believe that your first instincts were right – law enforcement should come down very hard on stalkers as they are social misfits. You joining the ranks of the equally social misfitted courtesy warmonger Republicans is just sad.

  2. It is wonderful when the lightbulb of reason turns on and shines on the fallacies of the way “things should be”. I had never heard of you before reading the stalker article, but will look for your writtings from now on.

  3. Practice vigorously with your new revolver until you know how to use it by mere muscle memory. While you’re at it, purchase at least 2 speed loaders for your revolver. Additionally, go purchase a glock 19 9mm Luger and a remington model 870 12 guage 7-shot tactical shotgun and practice regularly with them, as well. Buy at least 3 or 4 spare magazines (in addition to the mags that come with the glock) and load them up with 124 grain +P hollowpoint ammo and buy a crossbreed “supertuck” holster so you can comfortably carry your glock. Lastly, buy a 6-round “side saddle” ammo carrier for your shotgun and load it and the shotgun itself with some low recoil, 8 or 9 pellet, 2.75″ 00 buckshot like that which is made by federal and hornady. Use full metal jacketed bullets for handgun practice and use 2.75″, 1 1/8 ounce, #7.5 or #8 birdshot for shotgun practice.

You may not like guns and there presence may bother you right now but, whether you want to admit it or not, they can be a great equalizer against things that go “bump in the night”.

  4. Just read your article in the news about your situation. I also read that you purchased a pistol. Please get the additional training from a certified instructor (perferably a ret police officer or active officer) that offers classes for women. That way you will become for familiar with carrying a weapon and how to pull it out when needed. I taught both my wife and daughter how to handle weapons through the years and feel fairly confident that if necessary, they could protect themselves. I have had to carry a sidearm for many years and still continue to get training at least 1 a year.
Our prayers are with you and your boyfriend that this person will just go away.

  5. Well Jenny, welcome to the REAL world. That is why the Second Amendment is SO important to American Law abiding citizens. God made man(&women) Col. Colt made them Equal. Weapon’s are tools that protect us from Evil people. It is not a nice thing, BUT it is the Truth. Jenny buy yourself One Weapon(hand gun) Practice as much as possible. Buy you a good book on how to handle a hand gun, go to a gun range. Look and listen for good advice. Read how to protect yourself. Take your time. Good luck.

  6. Mixed feelings here, it’s sad that you became aware that you needed a handgun, but heartening that you are able to do so! Remember to thank T. Jefferson for the very Liberal right to defend yourself! Welcome to the world of personal responsibility,God bless and keep you.

  7. Must be nice to have cops who give a crap. The ones who were supposedly helping me track down a repeat burglar turned out to be on the take from him — he was a meth dealer living nearby, and provided their donut money — and gave him the location of the cameras I’d installed to catch him on video.

Yet more reason to own guns.

  8. Jenny, I recently read that you obtained a .38 revolver. I suggest getting bigger and more guns. 🙂 In particular, you should seriously consider getting a semi-automatic pistol. Modern pistols are almost 100% reliable, and they’re infinitely easier than a revolver to “clear” in the unlikely event that there is a malfunction. Handguns are sub-optimal defensive weapons (rifles and shotguns being superior), so you would be well-served to have the increased capacity of, say, a Glock 19 as suggested above.

In any event, I hope you practice regularly with whatever gun(s) you choose to carry. In the end, your capabilities and self-defensive habits trump any selection of weapon.

    Good luck, and stay safe.

  9. Jennifer,

I congratulate you for having the courage to defend yourself. Most people prefer the “head in the sand” method.

Once I was awakened in the middle of the night by somebody trying to break into my house. So I grabbed a shotgun, walked downstairs to the doorway and prepared for the worst. Fortunately, the guy heard me moving around and left and I didn’t have to shoot him.

I was never more grateful of anything in my whole life as having that shotgun in my hands.

Some of my liberal friends asked me why I didn’t call the cops. I answered, “The bad guy was already THERE. The cops were 20 minutes away.”

Another friend said that he was “nonviolent” and would only be willing to call the cops. I told him that calling the police was not “nonviolent”, the true “nonviolent” solution involves letting the bad guy do whatever he wants.

I told him that police were not Buddhist monks, they carry guns and use them when they need to. I said, “Your solution is just as violent as mine, except my solution is 20 seconds away and your solution is 20 minutes away.”

After the break-in incident, I got the world’s loudest alarm system and upgraded the shotgun to a riot model that holds more ammo. Plus I got buckshot loads for it.

There is absolutely nothing morally wrong with a responsible, law-abiding woman like yourself owning a gun for self-protection. Anyone who says otherwise is a phony. None of your “nonviolent” friends are actually willing to lay down and die, Gandhi style. They are just trying to wish the problem away.

Please remember: a gun is like any other powerful machine, it must be treated with respect. It must be stored properly and it must be handled properly.

The four basic rules of gun safety are:

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS TREATED AS IF THEY ARE LOADED. ALWAYS!!!!!

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE POINT AT ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

Rule III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET, DON’T ASSUME YOU ARE SHOOTING IN A SAFE DIRECTION.

In addition to the above, I strongly urge you to use a storage method, such as a safe, that will keep the gun secured from children and irresponsible adults.

  10. Chris Allinson, lay off. “You joining the ranks of the equally social misfitted courtesy warmonger Republicans is just sad.”

Why the rush to judgement? How is a woman supposed to defend herself against a crazed stalker? Remember when seconds count, the police are only 15 minutes away.

  11. Hi Jeff:

You know (or should) as well as I that when confronted by an armed intruder the chance that you will have the presence of mind to pop the safety, level and fire point blank is just not going to happen – pedestrian of you, and the bulk of posters here (most just acting out) to feign machismo that will just get Jennifer shot!

Jennifer, now the stalker has been ID’d keep the pressure on police, daily if necessary, to get this guy behind bars and in front of a judge! Your stalker is an obsessive – the last thing he wants is to kill you, he imagines himself in a real relationship with you!

Jodie Foster dealt with a similar obsessive stalker to yours in real life. Her role in The Brave One was probably cathartic? Her first armed encounter in the flic is in a panic situation – simply put yourself in her shoes for one second and you will see what I’m talking about here.

Again, don’t get to play the trained seal for the Second Amendment money grubbers – use the full extent of the Law!

  12. Chris thinks: “when confronted by an armed intruder the chance that you will have the presence of mind to pop the safety, level and fire point blank is just not going to happen

You’ve made the error in logic of assuming that everyone else would handle a situation the way you think you would.

Knowing how to handle a situation is one thing. Practicing until the reactions are built in is the hard part.

The 3 safeties in my gun (Glock 17, 9mm, 17 rounds in the magazine, 1 chambered) are released by pulling the trigger, set by releasing the trigger.

If someone is close enough to be a threat, they’re close enough that I don’t really have to aim. (I’ve also made a horrible mistake in judgment, letting him get that close!)

Holding it against the front of my body with both hands & firing works just fine, & makes it harder to grab.

In fact, I’ve practiced firing at someone as far as 10′ in front of me while holding the pistol against the side of my chest with one hand (the one that’s just drawn it from the holster).

If you choose not to defend yourself, that’s your choice. But don’t try to tell other people that they shouldn’t defend themselves because of a choice you’ve made.

  13. I was a Marine in my youth. We were taught to be courteous and polite to all we met, but to have a plan to kill them. This is one reason people enjoy an interaction with Marines when they are acting right, when they act an ass they rue the day they did so.

Be proffesional, bold, and polite to all you meet. Have a plan to kill them if need be.

No one ever raped a .38.

  14. @Chris

In regards to your first post. Not all bullet wounds kill people or stop the threat. People can be amazingly resilient and especially so if driven by mental illness or drug use. If you’ve never read about the 1986 april incident in Miami invoving the FBI I recommend you do so. The two criminals were completely sober. Suggesting that she’ll in turn become some sort of counter stalking monster, by stating she now has a target, is just wrong. It is cruel given the situation she’s going through and horribly judgemental on your part. Carrying a weapon does not a neccessarily a Republican make. There are many peopple/groups currently promoting/advocating arming yourself. The Pink Pistols, Jeff Soyer, Libertarians and the list could go on. Frankly why would anyone even care about something as petty as political leanings if somebody is trying to do everything in their power not to become another statistic. Yes I do agree with you that informing the law was the right thing to do, but denying yourself the tools to help you in those first few seconds while the law takes it’s time to act doesn’t sound very practical to me. Especially so if you take into account the fact that the police have no obligation to protect the individual citizen and as rational human beings we can’t expect that from them. They are not Gods/desses omnipotent and omnipresent. Would you prefer this become another Souza v. City of Antioch. Police officers are human beings and as such capable of errors in judgement. There cause is a noble one but unless you feel we each have our own personal police officer. Relying solely on the law is naive at best.

  15. MKEgal:

Your first & last paras. are pure speculation and self serving.

I could speculate that yourself and most of the others on this thread are fundementally paint-ballers?

Be well Jennifer, suggest stick with your instincts – fear mongers offer no solutions, never have, never will.

  16. “Your stalker is an obsessive ? the last thing he wants is to kill you, he imagines himself in a real relationship with you!”

    Tell that to Rebecca Schaeffer.

  17. I haven’t read the other comments and for good reason, if I repeat something that has already been said, it probably makes it true. I applaud you for deciding to take control of your situation and not rely on someone else for your protection. You have acquired two things along with your new firearm, those being freedom and peace of mind. Unfortunately, others will not get it, and will suffer the tragic consequences of their mistake. The fact that you told your story is important. Other like minds like you will be inspired to take action if they are faced with similar problems. I thank you for that. We live in a violent world in which compassion and a peaceful heart are viewed as weakness. However, even Jesus sent his disciples out with the words “Be as cunning as snakes but as innocent as doves.”

Best wishes in all you do.

  18. Darryl Beck.

And the outcome of Rebecca’s murder – finally, stalker laws in Ca. Patent nonsense that the Law had been so cavalier and Wild West for 200 years – and still is around the school yard bully!

The Constitution preamble (Jefferson ne Locke) speaks of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – this is a personal affirmation that should be the very basis for Law. You advocate armed self defense to ensure unalienable-rights. The Law is your best defense as will prosecute you for manslaughter – self defense is but a fine line – as in most jurisdictions you are simply advocating manslaughter!

Jennifer, an armed public (for self defense) is an illusion. Don’t buy into the hype as it requires you balkanize yourself with fear resulting in the necessary dumbing-down – be pro-active with the police and stand your ground legally.

  19. Chris Allinson, how many firearms have you owned? How many firearms have you shot? How many times have you been confronted by a violent criminal? How many people do you know that own firearms? Sadly, there are too many people in our society stuck in the delusion that 911 and the police are the only answer to fighting crime and violence. Unfortunately for some, the one and only time they were confronted by violence and evil was their last day alive. You are attempting to argue an issue you know nothing about, the fact of the matter is an armed public is the last thing violent criminals want to see. It’s fine being proactive with the police and it’s great that you suggest that Jennifer stand her ground legally. But what do you suggest she do when she is face to face with her attacker? What do suggest she do when she knows a violent encounter is imminent? Having been in a few violent encounters, I can tell you that having a firearm nearby makes the encounter survivable as opposed to appealing to the attackers mercy. You can confront your attacker unarmed if you want, but how dare you judge Jennifer for making a decision that she’s comfortable with.

  20. The Shadow…. ? Not comfortable with your name in print? Your hype around the necessity of a gun for protection demonstrates the direct IQ loss of the armed!

Jennifer, do not confront your stalker – this thread demonstrates the mentality of the armed, and things happen really fast when you are not thinking clearly.

Suggest get yourself a house alarm with very high level klaxon horns installed under your eaves – nothing makes a coward take flight like 120dBm roaring at close range!

And I’m done debating with the acolytes of NRA marketing – the frightened double digit IQ crowd.

  21. Chris,

You are smug, arrogant, condescending and projecting like an off-kilter Bell and Howell at a 70’s High School Gym locker-room VD film.

While I don’t know what your actual I.Q. is, mine was tested at 140. If you think that is a double-digit I.Q., I think it is safe to assume yours is far lower than the rest of the posters in this thread.

You are offering tactical advice on a subject you are utterly clueless about. You are engaging in moral malpractice offering useless, naive tripe that if taken earnestly, could result in an innocent party being injured or killed. You are without any shame or honor.

Your giving advice to others on firearms ownership and use is like an African Witch Doctor giving advice on quadruple-bypass surgery. You are so far out of your depth that you are stupeifyingly ignorant of what the limits of your knowledge or lack therof encompasses. You simply don’t have a clue what you don’t know.

Your ignorance and condescending, poisoned rhetoric is so profoundly vapid that the rest of us find it amusing as an example of sheer cluelessness. Your advice is about as wise, well thought-out and valid as that of a small child trying to interject themselves into the affiars of the adults. It should be given equal consideration as the same.

While I am not a trained seal for the NRA, I have trained by and along side of several SEALs over the years not to mention SOFD-D aka CAG aka Delta. I know, more adult words and phrases that make your child-like intellect cry out in painful frustration. One thing is for sure Chris, those SEALs have forgotten a damn sight more about firearms tactics and training than you have ever mis-known.

Here is a e-dollar, please use it to buy your first e-clue.

  22. Well done Mark, and vintage stuff around Seals, most entertaining! You sound infuriated? Most have just shown exasperation that I just don’t get the simple justice and virtue (sic) embodied in gun culture?

Must be cold-comfort for you Jennifer that the only option offered throughout the thread is barrel size (the classic male struggle). Trust you will have noted the dead-end (big talk, single solution) and will simply move on through the Legal process.

  23. Infuriated? You over-estimate yourself Chris, but then again, everybody here already knows that.

Me? Just giving alms to the clueless.

  24. You failed to answer the questions I posed to you Chris. Instead you do what most do who have no argument, they mindlessly attack what they don’t understand.

I choose to not leave my name due to the kind of work I do. My job is to protect society from the criminal element, I will not get into what level I’m at in the chain of command. What I will say is that the first line of defense are the law abiding citizens who have decided to not be victims. Those of you who choose to rely on others for your protection are simply the ones who are in the list of statistics.

Now, about the NRA. I am a life member. I have been since before I joined the military. In fact the NRA has its roots in the military, having been founded by retired generals of the U.S.Army. The membership consists of people from every walk of life and includes law enforcement, military, stay at home moms, hard working dads, doctors, lawyers, Presidents of the United States, like John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, entertainers like Eric Estrada, Ted Nugent, and Charlton Heston, who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and the list goes on. So you can malign, castigate, insult, and use all of the pejoratives you want, but it only makes you look incredibly foolish.

  25. The Shadow…(duh… di.. du.dah) and Mark Turner:

‘Redirection’ as usual – was Bush Jr.’s facile mantra: “… just keep saying it until it is so!”

‘TS’, you bring up the ‘victim aspect’ that you purport our Law enforcement agencies are loath or not competent to address – its the whole case for gun rights (sic) of course – and an egregious disservice to those dedicated professionals in Law enforcement and the criminal justice system – shame on you!

Jennifer, a continuous stream of this swinging-dick stuff is about all that you are going to get now.

  26. “?Redirection? as usual ? was Bush Jr.?s facile mantra: ?? just keep saying it until it is so!?”

Actually, that was Joeseph Goebbels and the concept of: “The Big Lie” and you are the one who keeps repeating the same emotional, non-factual drivel hoping it will magically make it so thru repetition, not myself and TS.

“and an egregious disservice to those dedicated professionals in Law enforcement and the criminal justice system ? shame on you!”

Well, it appears both myself and The Shadow have a similar background. We do no one a disservice by atacking your emotings and responding with cold hard facts. There is the world we live in and the world we would like to live in. You seem to have the two confused. Your wishing will not make a lie the truth or the unsafe safe.

Shame on you for your lack of understanding and of your pushing emotion in place of serious thought.

  27. To add: When two people in this very thread employed in Law Enforcement tells you to arm yourself for your own self-defense, we have a name for that in police work Chris. It is called a CLUE!

    Get one!

  28. For the …dicks!

Remember James Brady who took the hit for Reagan? The shooter was John Hinckley Jr., Jodie Foster’s stalker – was just trying to impress her!

    From: http://onthehillblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/since-assault-weapons-ban-lifted-at.html

“…The report outlines how the availability of assault weapons has altered the balance of power on urban streets between police and criminals, endangering police officers and causing a growing number of police departments to use assault weapons to match the firepower they face. The report also explores the ties between terrorism and assault weapons, the Brady Campaign says.

“Our communities are less safe today than they were four years ago, when devastating weapons like AK-47s were not as easily available to thugs and other dangerous people,” said Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Center. “We urge policymakers to take action now to get these weapons off the streets.”

Shame on the Senate Democrats also for pandering to the NRA gun lobby.

Am still amazed that Mark David Chapman traveled from Hawaii, twice unnoticed, to stalk and kill John Lennon – used a .38 with hollowpoints at close range.

  29. Wow Chris,

You quoted a Hill article that quotes the Brady campaign. A group so authoratative they refuse to allow their so-called studies to be put out to peer review. I think the phrase for that is ‘junk science’.

“Am still amazed that Mark David Chapman traveled from Hawaii, twice unnoticed, to stalk and kill John Lennon ? used a .38 with hollowpoints at close range.”

I am amazed a man with Lennon’s money couldn’t spend a bit of it on some body armor and a NYCCCW which is easy for someone of his noterity to obtain. Even better would have been to have hired a bodyguard. A sterling example of how wishful thinking will get you killed. it is not sufficient to live your life in ‘Imagine’ land.

“Shame on the Senate Democrats also for pandering to the NRA gun lobby.”

Yes, damn them for taking their oath to uphold the constution seriously, including the Second Amendment, even though unenlightened hopolophobic know-nothings like Chris Allinson think they shouldn’t .

If you don’t like the Second Amendment, then get some people together and convince 2/3rds of the states to change it. Until then, suck it up, the rest of us are not going to live in your imagine make-believe fantasy world.

If you want to get down on all fours and eat grass like a sheep, help yourself, the rest of us will pass.

  30. Since we are in copy and paste mode Chris:

    http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/crime/2710-gun-ownership-up-crime-down

    “Gun Ownership Up, Crime Down

    Written by Patrick Krey

    Thursday, 07 January 2010 09:45

0The Christian Science Monitor reports that the “oft-cited credo that more guns equal more crime is being tested by facts on the ground this year: Even as gun ownership has surged in the US in the past year, violent crime, including murder and robbery, has dropped steeply.” FBI statistics for the past several years had shown crime rates holding steady but for 2009, violent crimes dropped “dramatically.” Contrast these figures with the fact that gun sales are up 12 percent since the election of Barack Obama.”

  31. Chris, I never said law enforcement is incompetent, I said citizens are the first line of defense. Most crimes that are reported, law enforcement responds to after the fact. In other words Chris, while law enforcement does its best to be proactive, the only crimes that are listed as statistics are those that law enforcement responds to. That’s the unfortunate difference between proactive and reactive enforcement. Law enforcement always knows what crimes were not stopped from occurring, but law enforcement rarely knows what crimes were prevented. That is why it is so important for citizens to be able to defend themselves. Most violent crimes are reported after they have occurred. A percentage of those violent crimes are reported immediately after they have occurred and the criminal has left the scene. That is also contingent on whether the victim survives the attack and is not injured to the point that they can’t report the crime.

Something occurred to me Chris, are you the stalker? Are you attempting to shame Jennifer into dropping her guard? You are inordinately concerned with Jennifer’s decision to defend herself. That leads me to believe that her ability to defend herself somehow has an impact on you. Very interesting.

  32. TS – after what appeared to be a reasoned thought out, albeit flawed, position you descend into a direct accusation – you continue a monumental prick!

Jennifer’s decision to defend herself was pre the ID of her stalker, hence we are on this follow up thread – you really should try to keep up – and if this was the previous thread your accusation might have merit if I had bothered to post such comments on that thread – my comments relate to an ID’d stalker throughout.

You will note that other than the …dicks post, all my comment has been addressed to Jennifer, as concur with your notion: “.. citizens are the first line of defense” – simply a truism: Jennifer’s heightened awareness, those around here fully informed of the threat and in support together with the police department engaged aggressively will result in her safe passage through this crisis – being armed, however, must result in her fight/flight devolution (the swinging-dick analogy), courtesy the opportunist NRA – truly worthless miscreants that have involved this country in two recent wars simply for-profit! And Iran, of course, is their next opportunity when warmonger Republicans are in control once more.

And Mark, you are dismissed with this:

John Lennon was a Brit and a vocal Vietnam war critic. He was being investigated by the FBI as attempted to get a Green card but was considered an undesirable (the FBI did everything they could to thwart John’s application for citizenship) – while body amour might have helped it has always been beyond me that the-authorities would not have anticipated that his war stance was anathema to the position of Nixon’s Republicans, heavily vested in NRA supply-side materiel. Did FBI negligence kill John Lennon?

  33. Okay Chris, if you are in fact not the stalker, then what qualifications do you have that give you the expertise equal to mine or Marks to assess what she is doing as more dangerous than just passively confronting her stalker? By your posts, and my extensive expertise, I think I can reasonably say you have zero (0) expertise with firearms or self defense. Now that’s not to say you can’t, as a person, give your opinion. I just find your whole demeanor abrasive, insulting, arrogant, cheeky, rude and knowledge wise, not grounded in logic of the critical thinking variety.

As NRA has nothing to do with Jennifer’s decision, mentioning the NRA is a Red Herring, or if you will a Non-Sequiter. In fact her decision was based on recommendations from objective people and those close to her that LOVE her and want to see her stay alive. For my part, my opinion is irrelevant, I only wrote to encourage her, my comments to you on the other hand are an after thought designed to refute your uneducated ramblings.

Chris, instead of resorting to regurgitating the uneducated ramblings of others, take a moment and do some research. You may actually learn something.

  34. And on the Second Amendment Mark – you must surely know that it took Bush Jr.’s loading of the SC with Roberts and Alito to arrive at the current ruling? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/28/AR2010062802134.html The last SC ruling on the Second Amendment occurred in 1939: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Miller and resulted in the upholding of the: ‘A well regulated militia,’ provision.

Always a thorny issue ‘as the Second Amendment is a sentence’, the NRA for decades used the slogan: ‘.. the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.’ While they capitalized the T on The after a while they had to leave the comma after ‘arms’ as Constitutional lawyers at the NRA could not be seen as accepting it being dropped – the comma makes the slogan the grammatical nonsense that it truly is, of course.

If Clarence Thomas is impeached for lying to Congress during his confirmation hearings (the Hill allegations revisited), perhaps a SC tilted one left instead of one right might just revisit the Second Amendment? Bearing arms is surely a State jurisdictional responsibility anyway, hardly in the ‘fundamental rights’ class (and States will always have Law in place to control firearms – count on it) – the Second Amendment has been redundant for over 100 years, not that Sharon Angle would know this from her calls for insurrection?

  35. Chris,

You have a filthy mouth, please cease with the pricks and dicks rhetoric, it makes you look juvenile. If you want respect, you could try giving a minimal level yourself.

“John Lennon was a Brit and a vocal Vietnam war critic. He was being investigated by the FBI as attempted to get a Green card but was considered an undesirable (the FBI did everything they could to thwart John?s application for citizenship) ? while body amour might have helped it has always been beyond me that the-authorities would not have anticipated that his war stance was anathema to the position of Nixon?s Republicans, heavily vested in NRA supply-side materiel. Did FBI negligence kill John Lennon?”

Nixon was anti-gun and no friend to the NRA nor the NRA to him. A Nixon confident, Pete Shields, founded the Nation Coalition to Ban Handguns, the pre-cursor to the Violence Policy Center. I know facts don’t matter but please stop making stupid crap up. You are likely dismissed, this time by reality.

  36. TS – where did I assert that Jennifer was: “just passively confronting her stalker”? Have been consistent that Jennifer be pro-active – Law enforcement have ID’d and must confront her stalker.

Emboldened by Columbia v. Heller in 2008 the NRA have marketed fear as product #1 – simply suggested that Jennifer, initially, responded to this marketing pressure (as a possible solution for her, albeit truly a dead end) – trust that during the interim, and ID of her stalker, she has reduced her investment in marketed-fear?

  37. On the filthy mouth Mark – TS’s allegation hit my button for sure! Would yours too, I expect?

Don’t seek respect or anything else from you guys, consider you Red necks at best.

We have been trading barbs and insults, and think we are done as getting nowhere – mutual intransigent since post #1.

  38. In your narrow world view protecting a civil right=marketing fear.

If the NRA is marketing fear, the ACLU is practically going full retard for fear.

Anything you don’t understand or approve of=fear.

PS Chris, thanks for all the strawmen. They make much better mulch than those nasty facts you refuse to discuss.

  39. Go ahead and consider me a Redneck. I consider that badge of honor.

The Redneck is the one who puts food on your table, runs the powerplant, runs the sewer plant, patrols your streets, defends your frontiers, puts out your fires, works in the mines that provides the raw materials for the things you use, works in the factories than make the finished goods that make your naive and insular existance possible in this modern world. The very thing that gives you the luxury of living a comfortable, fantasy-driven life that would have ensured your long-ago starvation in a less-modern world.

Let me ask you, what the hell have you done for the Redneck except seek to denegrate him and remove his civil rights?

Far better to be a Redneck and actually justify my existance than to be a boil on the buttocks of society who neither spins nor toils.

  40. Like Mark, I wear the term “Redneck” proudly and as a badge of honor. In fact, in my world, it is far better to be called a redneck than an elitist, progressive, or liberal. So, thank for recognizing the redneck side of me.

As for people insulting others, you began insulting people from your first post by referring to Jennifer as a trained seal for the NRA. Had it been someone else, I would have thought it to be a friendly barb in that they would have been comparing her to a Navy SEAL. But no, you have to slam Jennifer with your demeaning comment.

As for the “reframed” second amendment, you really should spend some time reading about the original intent of the second amendment by the likes of Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, and Patrick Henry. You know nothing of the second amendment but what your handlers want you to know. Quit looking at the shadows on the wall, take off the chains of ignorance, leave the cave and step into the sunshine of enlightenment. Don’t attack those you are simply showing you the truth.

  41. Hey Chris, get past your bigotry and into the real world. The NRA is one of the few organizations that preach and teach safe and sane firearms ownership.

If you can get your knee to stop jerking you may profit by going down to the range. People involved with firearms competition are more courteous and considerate than you’ll ever be.

  42. I love how this Chris Allinson puts so much faith in law enforcement when they aren’t even legally obligated to protect an individual. That is, if you call the cops and they don’t respond, tough luck! The Supreme Court has ruled that over and over. And like the saying goes about cops only being 15 minutes away, expecting a police officer to protect you in time is extremely naive. There just aren’t enough police to protect us all at once. Somewhere around 300,000 officers on duty at any one time in a country with 300 million people, it’s just impossible logistically.

  43. As a dose of reality for those who have full faith in 911 I keep a collection of 911 calls where the victim is being attacked while on the phone (a bit late for a call for help) or are killed before police can arrive.

An attacker has a decided advantage on timing.

  44. Go Girl. There have been plenty of liberals in our nation’s history who owned a firearm. Many liberals and conservatives will agree that you have a right to defend yourself. Good luck to you and be safe.
